Ruth Coleman
Ruth grew up in Saint John. After graduation she went to college in Dallas, Texas. Ruth then did some mission work in Mexico before returning to Canada. Ruth lived in Newfoundland for 12 years with her husband Ed and her four children. Her family returned to live New Brunswick in the 90’s and it was at that time she began to devote more time to her art and education. In addition to visual art, Ruth writes poetry and short prose.
Ruth has spent her career working with families and young children. Ruth’s artwork and writing are expressions of her spirituality. For Ruth art is an outward sign of what is happening on the interior landscape of soul. Art is grace, a true gift from the creator to the creature. To be complete, art must go full circle. In the beginning something is created from nothing, it is observed and calls forth a response. It then must be released to do its work and the artist is free to move on to a new creation. It is a very liberating process.
Ruth’s work has been shown in Saint John NB.
